Why family caregivers need relief
Family caregiving usually starts as a favor and turns into a second job. Rides to appointments, meals, laundry, reminders, the calendar, the phone calls — none of it disappears because you have a shift to work or a family of your own.
Skipping your own appointments and never taking a day off is not sustainable, and it is not good for the person you are caring for either. Respite care is planned relief, not a sign that you are failing.
